Names for children, as you probably know, need not be something Arabic or difficult - just decent. We also decided to name our children "easy" names that still have good meanings, as simply, that's our only requirement as Muslims. Growing up, no one could pronounce my last name and due to the spelling of my first name, people frequently called me "Annie." It was obnoxious. On that note, I know two Americans named Shad, and Shadi isn't far from that. My husband's name is Shadi so he gets off pretty easy pronunciation wise, though some people like to get ridiculously "creative" and try to make it more difficult than it is (i.e. My husband is Turkish-Egyptian (born and raised in Egypt) and I'm Irish-Greek American.
